Our Cacao

Ceremonial grade cacao is a 100% pure cacao paste that is healthier, more beneficial and more mood-elevating than other cacao-based products on the market. The ceremonial grade Criollo cacao paste is the result of very specific production methods. Different from other more widely available cacao-based products, such as cocoa powder and dark chocolate, pure ceremonial cacao paste is minimally processed using traditional production methods. No sugar is added to ceremonial grade cacao, to avoid sugar highs and maximize the “pure” cacao sensations. While natural sweeteners such as honey and spices like cayenne pepper are used in the ceremonial cacao preparation process, certain kinds or quantities of ingredients are avoided, to ensure the purest ceremonial cacao sensation possible. In addition to being minimally processed, ceremonial grade cacao must be organic. During the cacao ceremony, cacao is used to heal and connect to the body. The pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetic modification that may be used to produce certain cacao is potentially harmful to us, and therefore unfit for ceremonial use. Our cacao paste is particularly precious because it is made with Criollo cacao beans, which are among the noblest cacao varieties on the planet. Criollo cacao grows in mixed cultures, and therefore develops little to no bitter substances, little acidity, and a variety of nutrients. This very delicate plant is sensitive to environmental influences and accounts for only three to five percent of the global cocoa market. Our Criollo cacao beans are sourced from various cooperatives and small farming businesses, where the noble plant is cultivated in perfect harmony with nature. When the beans are ripe, they are gently harvested and then dried with solar heat, while remaining protected from direct sunlight. This naturally reduces the acidity in the beans. We buy the cacao for this product directly from the producer in the country it is grown in: individual farms, family businesses or cooperatives. Transparent trade without purely commercially focused middlemen allows us to guarantee higher revenues for the producers and greater respect and humanity in trade relations. Thanks to direct contact, we know the social and ecological conditions at the production sites and can make sure they are in line with our values. In addition, we know exactly where our raw materials come from and the quality of their cultivation.

Our vision

We want to be a reference in ceremonial cacao in the world. Generating links and resources for native farming communities in Latin America. Respecting ancestral traditions and the care of their lands. Generating an active, conscious and empathetic community, where rituals, ceremonies and events related to cacao take place regularly. Creating unique and incomparable moments, where the community finds a space to develop, share, grow and learn. Generating links and synergies with local, national and international facilitators. Reaching all people interested in personal development, healthy lifestyle, conscious eating and fitness. In the near future, we will provide benefits to our community. Thanks to the Dharma collective label, we will generate audiovisual content, so that they can bring the mama cacao experience to their homes, atelier spaces, offices or any activity they perform daily. We would like to be a reference in superfoods. For that reason, we are very interested in educating the Swiss society about this ancestral medicine, which is so linked to their country, but at the same time, so far away, due to the high consumption of sugar. In this way, helping to generate a healthier and more conscious society of what and how it consumes. For that reason, we, would like to be a healthy option for coffee consumers too.

Hi, I'm Angel Agustin, founder of Mama Cacao.

Curious by birth, active by nature, always ready to see the positive side of life. Creative, entrepreneur, cook, baker, cultural manager, DJ, music producer, skateboarder, snowboarder and much more. But above all an excellent host, friend and road companion. From a very early age I really liked sweets, although I have tasted all the delights that life can give you. Sugar has always been my huge addiction. Thanks to ceremonial cacao, I was able to give up this addiction and benefit from all its virtues. That is why I am very happy to be able to share with you such a noble product, which besides being a super food, is an ancestral medicine in which I feel very identified, since it helps us especially to process our emotions and frees our creativity
